How does Jin Shin Jyutsu WORK?

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an art, not a medical technique. It employs 26 "safety energy locks" along the pathways that feed life into our bodies. These safety energy locks are located at the intersections of our energy highways. When one or more of these pathways becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area causing pain and eventually dis-harmonizing the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination reopens the pathway and brings balance to body, mind and spirit. This can bring about relief for mental, emotional, physical or spiritual stress.

What can I expect during a session?

The receiver remains clothed and lies face up on a cushioned treatment table. The coach’s hands are placed over the client's clothes, and the practice does not involve manipulation, massage, rubbing, or any drugs or substances. As the energy flows freely, it boosts healing capacities and promotes relaxation, balanced energy, and well-being. It is a valuable complement to conversational coaching and conventional healing methods.


What should I wear or eat before a session?

Loose, comfortable clothing is suggested. If you eat before a session, it is recommended to only have a light meal or snack. If you eat a large meal beforehand, a lot of your body's energy will be focused on digesting your food instead of moving throughout your body. Equally, a large meal directly after a session is not recommended for the same reason.  

Can I receive a session if I’m on medication?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a powerful and effective tool to relax and reduce stress and pain in our daily lives.  It is a very supportive non-medical method, co-operating with other natural therapies and medical practices. There are no counter-indications to Jin Shin Jyutsu Treatments.


History of Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu physio-philosophy is an ancient art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. Born of innate wisdom and passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth, the art had fallen into relative obscurity when it was dramatically revived in the early 1900's by Master Jiro Murai in Japan. After clearing himself of a life-threatening illness, Master Murai devoted the rest of his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu, gathering insight from a range of experiences and resources, including the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Things). The resulting knowledge of JSJ was then given to Mary Burmeister, who brought it to the United States in the 1950's. Mrs. Burmeister began teaching the art to others in the early 1960's, and today there are thousands of student practitioners throughout the United States and around the world.
